Sandra - this is my favourite of your paintings, although it was difficult to make a choice. I love all the India paintings - if I had the time and possibilities I would love to come with you on your trip but my priorities are with Africa (you ll understand why if you visited my site). Really wonderful and spiritually inspiring India paintings. Keep up the good work. Will write to answer your questions on my work direct. - best to you - Lizzy x

Artist's Description

At dawn one can say a prayer for one's family, light a candle and float the candle in its leaf boat decorated with marigolds as an offering to the Ganges River. The Ganges is a mother and will listen to your prayer. The handmade paper comes from Tangram company in Orchha, India. Tangram is a women's cooperative. The paper is made from the unused portions of cotton from a tee shirt factory. It is beaten into pieces and felted back together into sheets. This particular black sheet was marbleized with silver which became the basis for the water. The Ganges River is supposed to be pure spiritually but is extremely polluted physically.
