About Art Nomad Sandra Hansen
Sandra R. Hansen turned her dreams of traveling the world and painting into reality. During the last few years Sandra has painted numerous landscapes, from the US to Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Thailand, Vietnam, and many others. Her specialty has been India where she made numerous trips painting, teaching, and exhibiting her art. This year Sandra started a non profit organization, Artists Cultural Exchange, to help artists from around the world meet each other, paint and exhibit together.
Sandra's career has taken many twists and turns before arriving in the world of painting however. Sandra first became a woodworker, building harps at Lyon and Healy in Chicago. After attending Hope College and earning a degree in Women's Studies she wrote 5 one woman plays, made numerous historic costumes and travelled across the country performing these plays. In 1992 she ran for state representative in Michigan, but has always been grateful that she didn't win as the arts are so much more fun. During the last few years she has seriously pursued her painting career.
To get a better understanding of art Sandra returned to Hope College for painting and drawing classes. She then decided to go to Kendall College of Art and Design where she received to Portfolio Prize and the Painting in Excellence Award. In 2013 Sandra went into the master's program at Kendall and received the Portfolio Prize again.
Most of Sandra's paintings were landscapes before returning to Kendall College. There she improved in the portrait area and began doing more conceptual art and dabbling in abstract art as well as sculpture. If you would like her to paint something, a place, or someone special, please contact Sandra at 423 276-0065.
